Fabric inspection is basically visually examining the fabric. Fabric inspection and grading is done for fault/defect rate, fabric construction, end to end or edge to edge shading, color, length/width, print defect and appearance. The purpose of fabric inspection is to determine the quality of the fabric.
To characterize and quantify defects in fabric, apparel manufacturers use evaluation systems that assign penalty points based on the number of defects found within a given area of fabric. Most commonly used is the Graniteville system.
Inspection Machine:
- The machine is designed that rolls of fabric can be mounted behind the inspection table.
- This machine is power driven or the inspector pulls the fabric over the inspection table.
- This machine is also equipped with the analog/digital meter on the table which measure the fabric length.
- In this machine under the inspection table the fluorescent lights are placed which highlights the fabric defects, and on the top side machine U-V lights is placed which used for the specially for the yarn dyed fabric.
